Dabba Diary Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Bumbibee Labs Inc, a company based in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Dabba Diary, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. The beta

The TestFlight beta is free. It's a test version: features may change or disappear, things may break, and we may need to reset beta data (we'll tell you first when we can). We may end the beta at any time. The beta is provided "as is" (see section 12). If you joined the beta, the Beta Tester Agreement also applies.

2. Who can use Dabba Diary

You must be 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live). Dabba Diary is for adults planning family meals. It isn't meant for children, and children shouldn't use it or have an account.

3. Your account

Keep your sign-in secure, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You're responsible for what's entered in your account. You can stop using Dabba Diary and delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account.

4. Food, allergies, nutrition and health (please read)

• Dabba Diary suggests what to cook. Suggestions are ideas only. They are not medical, nutritional or dietary advice, and the app doesn't track calories or nutrients.
• Allergy and diet tags cover each dish's main ingredients only. They don't cover garnishes, tempering, spice blends, packaged or store-bought ingredients (for example hing, which often contains wheat), or cross-contact in your kitchen or a shop.
• Allergies you type under "Other" are saved and shown as a reminder but not filtered from suggestions.
• Dish details added with the AI helper can be wrong. Check them before saving.
• Always check ingredients and labels yourself, especially for allergies, religious or fasting rules, and food for children or anyone with a medical condition.
• If someone in your family has a serious allergy or a medically prescribed diet, follow the advice of their doctor or dietitian, not the app.
• In an emergency, such as a severe allergic reaction, call 911.

5. AI features

Dabba Diary uses AI to read what you type or say and to suggest details for new dishes. AI can make mistakes. Check and edit the results before saving.

6. Voice

Voice entry uses your iPhone's speech recognition (on your phone, or Apple's service). Recognition can be wrong; check the text before saving.

7. Acceptable use

Don't misuse Dabba Diary: don't try to break it, get into other people's data, overload our servers, copy or reverse-engineer it, or use it to break the law.

8. Your content

The dishes, notes and meal logs you add stay yours. You let us store and process them only to run Dabba Diary for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Feedback

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve Dabba Diary without owing you anything. We won't publish your name with it without asking.

10. Our app

Dabba Diary, its dish catalog, design and code belong to Bumbibee Labs Inc. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, under these terms and Apple's rules.

11. Paid features (not available yet)

There are no paid features today. If we add Dabba Diary Premium:

• It will be billed through your Apple ID at the price shown (in your local currency) before you buy.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and length unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID is charged within the 24 hours before renewal.
• With a free trial, you're charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
• Manage or cancel any time in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
• Family allergy filtering, the nut-free school setting, "Other" allergies, the safety disclaimer and adding your own dishes will stay free.
• If we add ads to the free version, we'll update the Privacy Policy first.

12. No warranty

To the extent the law allows, Dabba Diary (including the beta) is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that suggestions, tags or ingredients are accurate, complete or safe for your family.

13. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows:

• we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or lost data;
• we aren't liable for illness, allergic reactions or other harm arising from meals you choose to prepare or eat using suggestions, tags or AI-generated details, since you are responsible for checking ingredients (section 4);
• our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Dabba Diary in the 12 months before the claim, or CAD $50.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived, or our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited (for example, for our gross negligence or wilful misconduct).

14. Ending things

You can stop using Dabba Diary and delete your account any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or end the beta or the app, with notice where reasonable.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Courts in Ontario will handle any dispute, unless the consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts or laws.

16. Apple

These terms are between you and Bumbibee Labs Inc, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Dabba Diary or its content, support, maintenance, or any claims about it (including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims). Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app; if anything in these terms conflicts with it, Apple's EULA wins for that point. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them. You confirm you aren't in a country under a Canadian or US government embargo and aren't on a government list of prohibited parties.

17. Changes and contact

If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app before they apply. If you keep using Dabba Diary after that, the new terms apply.
